Straw weaving is an ancient art that celebrates the harvest. Even though modern agriculture gives us such food security that we are generally oblivious to the arrival of harvest time, the traditional Old World favours and decorations, called corn dollies, have a timeless appeal.

March 30, 2007: On my way home from work, I stopped at my favorite willow patch and cut a large bundle of willow.  Each willow rod was about 4 to 5 feet long, nice and straight, with lots of colors such as yellow, limey green, orange and red.
